This incredible woman, called Beth Ditto, is the lead vocalist of Gossip, a U.K. hit rock band now.
I learned her from Wen-Sheng, who recommended me this article "Gossip - Music For Men" a few days ago.
This blogger gave a pretty detailed introduction to Ditto, a woman who subverted the contemporary definition of esthetics.
Yeah! She is heavyweight and .. she's an outcoming lesbian.
But such a rebellious singer is also self-confident!
Owing to the insistent personal style, Beth has made herself a very famous and popular symbol in U.K. now.
Let me quote Beth in the end:
"I'm proud and sometimes I'll eat a whole bucket of chicken or two ice cream cartons, just to make sure I stay the way I am."

It's amazing! I have never heard about Beth Ditto until you mentioned her. In UK, people (esp. young people) don't care about how others think of themselves. They just do whatever they feel like doing so 'subculture' plays a very important role in British society. The styles and components of subculture are generally contrast with dominate culture, such as rock/punk music, drugs, homosexuality, and other different minority groups.

Either UK or Taiwan, there are both advantages and disadvantages. But, I think, the more conventional one restricts the minorities more.
I neither get used to a society whose people care about themselves mostly nor tolerate a objection-rejecting society.
